Today, we recall the landing at Gallipoli 110 years ago, where the world witnessed a great example of sacrifice. Australia's military faced a formidable challenge on that peninsula; its chance of success was low, and its casualties were high.
Those men answered King and Country, leaving family, friends, and their beloved homeland behind. Now, even over a century later, their deeds of sacrifice, valour and duty during that fateful war personify the best of the Australian spirit.
It is a spirit that we should do well to recognise in both those who have gone before us, as well as our current servicemen and servicewomen.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them. ... See MoreSee Less

To all friends in Catholic Education,
The Lord has called home his faithful servant, Pope Francis. As his earthly ministry ends, his example lives for us all, tending to the faithful and found amongst those at the margins, like Christ before him.
We pray for the repose of the soul of Pope Francis: eternal rest grant unto his Holiness, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.
May he rest in peace. ... See MoreSee Less
